SIR ROY AT THE DOOR is an unique unusual form. The base color is a creamy yellow with pink stippling and a gold picotee edge. The clear green throat flows into the base color and then the stippling begins. The petal twist and the sepals roll back. Sir Roy at the Door has great plant habit which has proven to be extremely hardy in our area. It been a good garden flower and a good parent in our garden.
This daylily is a reminder of a funny event with our late friend Roy Woodall, a heavy smoker. On our way back from lunch, Roy needed to stop to buy cigarettes. Mike, Steve and I waited in the car while Roy went in a gas station/quick market to get his smokes. Roy walked up to the automatic door, but nothing happened. He stood there trying to figure out what was wrong. We all sat in the car laughing so hard that I thought I would cry. Roy finally realized he was standing in front of a big window when the door two windows down opened. Roy never heard the end of this one. I hope you enjoy this daylily and have a little laugh when it blooms.
