PURPLE MAN

I was really happy when PURPLE MAN bloomed. It is a purple self, dark eye, surrounded by white teeth on the petals and sepals. Steve Moldovan in previous years had talked about putting white teeth on his beloved Vatican City. So I made a few crosses on it with some pollen Larry Grace shared with me(later named Briar Patch) and bloomed this grand daylily. Steve didn't get to see this seedling but I'm sure he would have been happy. It has all the traits Steve loved. Branching, Scape height, budcount, dormancy, the color purple, opens well and hold in the sun. Of course I like these traits also. This daylily has nice garden presence and is a good parent. A favorite hybridizing daylily of mine.
