Several years back Susan Shaw and I purchased Elizabeth Salter daylilies together. Small Tempest was one of those daylilies. My husband Mike, on one of his Florida adventures brought home a red eyed daylily from Matthew Kaskel.
Thank you, Matthew! I crossed both daylilies together, made lots of seed and SUNNY SPOT was the pick of the litter. The color is a butterscotch yellow with a strong lipstick red eye and a small heart green throat. The first photo shows more accurate color. The key feature to this daylily is its continuous reblooms. This year, during our dry summer SUNNY SPOT rebloomed three times. My husband Mike claims he has seen SUNNY SPOT rebloom 5 times. Anyways, SUNNY SPOT is a proven and reliable rebloomer. Garden visitors have also commented positively about SUNNY SPOT. J.R. Blanton in particular was appreciative of this pony sized daylily. Another interesting feature of SUNNY SPOT is the small green throat with a large red eye.
Fertile both ways.
