A few years back we began to search for dormant clear red Tetraploid unusual form daylilies that were pod fertile.
To our surprise pod fertile reds were few and far in between.
We acquired the best we could find. Two of these happened to be a Tet Christmas Is seedling from Steve Moldovan
and red Webster 5911 seedling, both easy pod fertile and dormant. SAILORS TAKE WARNING was selected as the best and only one of this cross that will be introduced.
The clear red color comes from Christmas Is. The Webster 5911 seedling gave height .
For hybridizers, the fine white edge sometimes shows on this daylily so we have crossed SAILORS TAKE WARNING to daylilies with teeth
Garden visitors admired this daylily and we had advance orders.
Fertile both ways.
