NITA LELAND is a bitone with rose pink petals with paler rose sepals and a lightly ruffled pale edge. The slightly darker eye on the petals and a pencil eye on the sepals are highlighted by the extended green throat. The clean rose color is a breakout from the orange/brown colors in Tet. Spindazzle hybridizing.
From the beginning NITA LELAND stood out from the crowd as the only rose colored daylily in a cross that was every shade of orange. The daylily is named after a local watercolor artist and author. Mike invited Nita to visit the garden and pick out the daylily to carry her name. As soon as Nita saw this one she knew immediately this was her daylily and she stopped looking. Visitors last summer shared her opinion of the uniqueness of the bloom. NITA LELAND is a 2012 Junior Citation winner. Nita favorite charity will receive 25 percent of the proceeds from her namesake. Quantity is limited.
