BAUGHSTON HORNSWAGGLER was named by New Englander, Bill Chambers. (Boston Bamboozler if you don't come from New England.) Anyway, on of Bill's visit he saw this daylily on its first bloom and just loved the form.
BAUGHSTON HORNSWAGGLER is slightly pinched ruffled petals and quelled crispate sepals. The 9.5" blooms open flat and creates a dramatic large flower effect. The bloom starts out purple in the morning and by afternoon begins to fade a bit. A slight red eye becomes more pronounced. The pale yellow green throat extends slightly into a midrib. BAUGHSTON HORNSWAGGLER is being introduced
as an Unusual Form. Initially because of ane occasional missing pistil HORNSWAGGLER was also not introduced, but after seeing it kids this year, I changed my mind. Of its 300 kids, more than 90% had pistils and many had the wonderful form.
This makes this an important tool for the UFO. Northern Hybridizer.
Fertile both ways.
