JACK AND SHIRLEY

M.Holmes, e803
Carpenter 55 seedling x SHIRLEY'S RED DRAGON = SF17(now introduced)
Ev. Tetraploid, Mid, 6.5", 14 buds, 26-30 H, 3 Way Branching, Re.

In 2006, Shirley Farmer took a trip with me and Malcolm Brooker Jr to visit Jack Carpenter's Lily Farm. Shirley was a huge fan of Jack's hybridizing. Shirley said it was her dream trip. A trip I still remember and cherish with our friends Shirley and Jack. In honor of that trip, I salute JACK AND SHIRLEY. The daylily displays a poinsettia red color self with a strikingly white edge with a matching white midrib. The white edge is one of the purist white edges I have seen. I've used JACK AND SHIRLEY in hybridizing and it passes on the white edge to its offspring. The cross is from a Jack Carpenter seedling that may have Tet. Dena Marie in it. SF17(SHIRLEY’S RED DRAGON, http://www.benzgardens.com/styled-6/ ) seedling was hybridized by Shirley Farmer. (Updated)The daylily is grown by John Benz and now is an introduction of his. I've included images of the cross pictured above. JACK AND SHIRLEY might take a year to establish. JACK AND SHIRLEY looks great at clump strength. Taller rebloom scape.

Easy Pod/ Pollen Fertile
