CIRCUIT BREAKER is a daylily I hybridized in Moldovan Gardens. Steve Moldovan selected and named this daylily the first summer it bloomed. That summer it had chevrons much like Dark Mosaic. After Steve’s death, CIRCUIT BREAKER was misplaced in the garden. About two years ago, I was able to locate CIRCUIT BREAKER and brought it to Riverbend Garden to line out and evaluate. Even though its chevrons have not reappeared, CIRCIUT BREAKER has become a favorite of our garden visitors.
Lavender purple self has darker eye that can breaker into chevrons in cooler weather. The lightly ruffled edge is slightly darker on the petals and lighter on the sepals. The clear green throat flows into silvery cream then into a darker purple with veining.
Steve hybridizing with CIRCUIT BREAKER and his own seedling produced many interesting patterned and eyed daylilies. Dan Robarts has used it in his hybridizing program. More pictures of CIRCUIT BREAKER seedlings are available on my profile in the AHS Portal and on my Facebook page.
